There’s a video circulating in the birth world right now called “The Performance.” It shows a couple trying to be intimate and attempting to conceive a child in a setting similar to how 99% of women labor and birth in the United States.

The whole situation seems ridiculous, controlled and obviously detrimental to such a personal and private experience. Why, then, do we assume that the personal and private experience of giving birth, could be accomplished naturally under such circumstances?
The opening quote from French doctor, Michel Odent, says it all:
“Oxytocin is the love hormone and is produced during sex, labor and birth. It is not produced in stressful conditions.”
The goal is to minimize stress, increase safety and security, and support women as they allow their bodies to birth their babies as normally as possible!
